Episode 54

Barclay Crenshaw aka Claude VonStroke is a producer, DJ and label boss for top House music label, Dirtybird Records. As I said to Claude when I first reached out to him, Dirtybird Records is so inherently psychedelic. From the music, to the art, to the self-expression, to the outright permission for play, Dirtybird pushes the envelope and refuses to be boxed in — in true psychedelic fashion.

During this episode, we discuss the following topics:

  • The journey of creating Dirtybird Records — one of the top House music labels.
  • Discussion around Rave Culture and how Claude balanced the party scene as a touring DJ. Plus how DJing differs for him now that he’s sober from everything.
  • Claude’s wild weekend in Ibiza. Hint: He ran through a forest and found Ricardo Villalobos DJing in a cave.
  • Staying true to yourself as an artist — even if it’s not the most popular decision.
  • Dirtybird Campout — when a music festival meets summer camp. Coming October 2022!

During this ep, we talk about what a sexual awakening is, psychedelics & sex, and creativity through our sexual energy.

As Ayesha said, sexual energy IS creative energy. Sex is creation. So if we don’t know who we are sexually, how do we know what to create?

On this week’s episode, I’m with visionary artist Wrenna Monet and wow does she have a story. Wrenna was in a near-fatal commercial boating accident in 2010 that left her with a blood clot in the brain, a traumatic brain injury, chronic fibromyalgia, and a near complete loss of identity. However it was this accident that sparked her artistic passion and is now the motivating force in her life.

During this ep, we talk about her road to recovery, how psychedelics have played a huge role in her healing, and her artistic process when creating visionary art.

I remember when DoubleBlind first came across my radar. I was struck by the beautiful balance of what I’d call true psychedelic culture, while also being an objective, fact-based journalistic outfit covering a wide range of topics within the psychedelic renaissance. From psychedelic legislation, to Ayahuasca tourism, to good ol’ fashioned “trip” tips, DoubleBlind is a wealth of psychedelic knowledge.

And so was my guest Shelby Hartman. The Co-Founder and CEO of Double Blind. In this episode, we cover everything from microdosing vs macrodosing, decriminalization and legalization, to Shelby’s own personal experiences with plant medicine. A great balance of personal insights and fact-based information, this episode is not to be missed!

About Shelby: Shelby Hartman is the co-founder and CEO of DoubleBlind, a media company and education platform at the forefront of the rapidly growing psychedelic movement. Also a reporter and editor specializing in psychedelics, cannabis, drug policy, and mental health, her work has appeared in VICE, Quartz, the Huffington Post, and Rolling Stone, among others.
